Dei Beste Damene share the enthusiasm for the freedom, colors and shapes that’s inherent in the vibrant soloist Hardanger fiddle music, and when the three soloists meet the wish is to convey the diversity of expression that exists within this vast repertoire.

As representatives of traditional fiddle music from the Hardanger, Telemark, Sogn and Valdres regions, the three performers represent a varied and diverse repertoire in terms of form and style, and differences will be further reinforced by the strong personal expressions of the three. In a live setting, the three play mainly solo, but in carefully selected interplay numbers the audience is treated to unison bow strokes that produce their trademark driving, pulsating and thoroughly captivating sound.

Teigland, Hytta and Bjørset are all accomplished performers with long and varied careers as musicians in a wide variety of constellations. As soloists they have all released critically acclaimed solo albums, and fall 2010 sees the release of the trio’s debut album.
