Djønno Folk
Rannveig Djønne, who hails from Djønno in western Norway’s Hardanger region, is an innovative accordion performer with a solid foundation of traditional knowledge. As one of the few professional accordion players in the country, she is active both as a soloist in her own trio Djønno Folk and with various other groups.
The trio has begun to work on original material made up of Djønne’s own compositions, but the majority of the concert program’s tunes are traditional Hardanger fiddle tunes.
With the album ‘Spelferd heim – slåttar frå Hardanger og Voss på durspel’ she has distinguished himself as an active performer on the Norwegian folk music scene. The album is released on her own label Djønno Records, and was nominated for the 2009 Norwegian Folk Music Award.
