Eplemøya Songlag
Eplemøya Songlag is a truly unique constellation in the Norwegian folk music universe. The a capella trio explores and exploits the opportunities represented by the merger of jazz vocals and folk song.
The three vocalists have different musical backgrounds, and actively use their diverse musical experiences to create an exciting new sonic palette together - using no other instruments than the human voice. The repertoire consists of traditional tunes which the three arrange in their very own fashion as well as original compositions performed in traditional style. Eplemøya songlag mixes humour and excitement, experimental improvisation and storytelling. The vocal trio’s appearance can come across as raw but also evocative and subtle.
2009 saw Eplemøya Songlag reaching the finals of the Intro-FOLK talent spotting programme as well as earning a victory in the Debut 09 contest. March 2010 saw the release of the trio’s debut album which was bestowed with rave reviews from Norway’s music critics.
