Yr is a performance that has been described as”70 minutes of music and dance on the margin of traditional, classical and contemporary expressions.  Ragnhild Hemsing and Hallgrim Hansegård both grew up surrounded by traditional music and dance, and now combine their legacy with classical music and contemporary dance.

Ragnhild Hemsing has been rewarded with a number of international prizes for her work as a classical violinist, but is also a celebrated Hardanger fiddler. She recently recorded Fossegrimen for Hardanger fiddle with star director Nemi Järvi and the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, and is currently recording the Yr music, expected to be released in September 2011.

Hallgrim Hansegard, well-known from the Frikar Dance Company, is trained as a dancer of halling, and is also one of Norway’s most promising dance choreographs having his signature on the much-admired acts “TidarÅ” og “JAMSIIS”. In Yr he dances traditional halling and does solo acts both with and without music.

Yr has previously been presented at the prestigious Norwegian Opera & Ballet and at the Oslo Chamber Music Festival. Now, we are proud to have this high-ranking duo at Folkelarm.
