Johanna Juhola / Reaktori

- passionate tango from Finland

A colourful mix of ingredients from the four vital musicians is well blended together, producing a concoction from which the music of Finnish outfit Reaktori is born. The band is led by accordionist Johanna Juhola, who’s also the ensemble’s composer. From chamberesque folk music to offbeat electronica, from the naive form of expression to virtuoso primal joy - the music of Reaktori is indeed rich in contrasts. Members have a background in ensembles Rinneradio, Wimmer, Luomu Players and Troka.

In 2000 Juhola won the prestigious International Astor Piazolla competition. Juhola has a fondness for the tango and, in general, all music with a strong passion. Over her career, Juhola has focused on fusing music with other arts such as dance, theater and circus.
February 2010 saw the release of her second solo album, ‘Fantasiatango’, featuring her own compositions.
