Nordik Tree (FIN)

Hans Kennemark, Arto Järvelä and Timo Alakotilla first met in Kaustinen in Finland in 1984. Kennemark then played in the Swedish group Forsmark III, while Järvelä and Alakotilla were members of the progressive folk music band JPP.

It all started with a jam session, but gradually the three formed the Nordik Tree. Their concert debut was at Allégården in Gothenburg in 2004 and the audience practically insisted that the trio recorded a CD. So they did. Nordik Tree was launched in 2006 with music that combined new compositions with traditional material from Finland and Sweden.

The members of the trio are all busy with different projects, but they finally found time to make the much longed for second album in 2010. Contradans received highly positive reviews and Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet summed up the trios qualities with these words: “Most striking is how they always touch the deepest source of the music, and how they manage to create an unyielding intensity”.

Do not miss the chance to experience one of the real super groups on the Nordic folk music scene!
