Lena Jonsson from Bollnäs in Hälsingland, Sweden has become an established fiddle player, one of the brightest stars of Sweden's folk music scene. She has been Riksspelman since 2008, and her career gained momentum when she was nominated for Newcomer of the Year at The Folk and World Music Gala in Sweden in 2010. She was educated at Falun, Stockholm, and has played worldwide with groups like The Goodbye Girls, Limbohofvet and Folk All-in Band and in duos with Martin Coudroy from Brittany and the American, Brittany Haas. At this year's Folkelarm, you can hear her play with the folk rock quartet Skenet as well as with to her own trio with which she is currently on tour.

Lena Jonsson released her debut album "Places", a musical travel journal where the listener is invited on a fast-paced, yet at the same time thoughtful journey. All of the songs on the album were written by Jonsson and arranged by the trio, which besides Jonsson herself includes Kristofer «Krydda» Sundström on bass and Erik Ronström on guitar. The three move seamlessly, playfully and elegantly between different music styles, and the Folkelarm audience can expect a musical experience with presence, fire and first class folk music.
