Ingeborg Ulberg Sommer er en allsidig musiker som har gjort seg bemerket som soloutøver så vel som i duo, ensembler og som teatermusiker. Hun jobber på tvers av sjangre og liker å utforske lydrommet. Ingeborg spiller fele og er en viktig tradisjonsbærer fra Røros.

I 2021 gir Ingeborg ut sin første solo-CD med materiale fra Rørostraktene. Plata har sitt utgangspunkt i tradisjonsmusikken og løfter frem eldre spillestiler og tonalitet fra ulike sentrale kilder. Pols har gjennom mange generasjoner stått sterkt i Rørosområdet, og Ingeborg presenterer polsen med et nytt blikk på gamle spillestiler. CD`n inneholder også runddansmateriale hentet fra gamle notebøker, formidlet gjennom Ingeborgs musikalske uttrykk. Hun er spesielt opptatt av å vise fram mangfoldet i denne musikktradisjonen – fra det melankolske spillet til det rytmiske særpreget som gir danselyst!

Ingeborg har en master i utøvende folkemusikk fra Norges musikkhøgskole. I sitt masterprosjekt fordypet hun seg i tradisjonslinjer og særegenheter hos flere spelemenn fra til sammen tre tradisjonsområder i Rørostraktene. Norsk folkemusikk har lange tradisjoner for soloutøveren og Ingeborg har gått tilbake til de eldste kildene for å hente fram igjen særegenheter i dette solospillet. Med dette som utgangspunkt formidler og utforsker hun sitt særegne, personlige utrykk gjennom bevisste kunstneriske valg.

Ingeborg Ulberg Sommer is a highly talented, versatile musician who has made a name for herself as a solo artist as well as in duos, ensembles and as a theater musician. She works across different genres and enjoys exploring the acoustics within traditional music.. Ingeborg plays the fiddle, anchored in traditional music from Røros.

In 2021 Ingeborg will release her first solo-CD with material from the Røros-region. The record is based on traditional music and lifts forward older styles of playing, and tonality from different central sources.

Through many generations “the pols” has been a central part of the traditional music from the Rørosregion, and Ingeborg presents the pols with a fresh view on old styles of playing. The record also contains “runddans”-material obtained from old notation books, conveyed through Ingeborg’s musical expression.

She is especially keen to show the diversity in these music traditions – from the melancholic play to the rhythmical distinctiveness that makes people want to dance!

Ingeborg has a master degree in traditional Folk Music from the Norwegian Academy of Music. In her master’s project she studied traditional lines and the peculiarities of several fiddlers from three different areas of tradition in the Røros-region.

Norwegian folk music has long and old traditions for solo artists, and Ingeborg has gone back to the oldest sources to gather and bring back this peculiarities.

Based on this work, she conveys and explores her distinctive, personal expression through conscious artistic choices.
